Nabby was so excited that today she would be coming to visit her older cousin Jenny in Boston. It was a nice change from the farm work back in Braintree, and she always loved coming here. Boston was so different from her hometown, though the distance wasn't really all that long at all.
The carriage wheels had clattered on the roughly paved roads the whole way here, but the roads of Boston were somewhat smoother. Although Nabby liked horses she was a terrible rider, and always had to take long distances in a carriage. The motion wasn't very nice either, and she felt quite sick by the time she arrived.
So, it was with great relief that she saw the Adams residence out of the carriage window. Although her own home was somewhat larger, this was a city home, and more classy, at least in her eyes. When the wheels of the carriage stopped, she eagerly stepped out and onto the street, and into the sights and smells of Boston. [/blockquote]

Jenny had been expecting Nabby for quite some time. Though her cousin was a few years younger, she provided Jenny with 'fresh air' you might say. Compared those in Boston and those her father brought home all had one thing in common: politics. And yet, Nabby still seemed innocent in that aspect.
Though she was expected that very afternoon, Jenny wanted to get in some riding on her horse before her cousin arrived. Her mother wanted her to deliver a raspberry pie out to her crazy, old father and so she did...with conditions. When she was finally making her way back into town she noticed what looked like an Adams carriage rolling in way of her home.
Jenny clapped her heals against the beast and galloped up next to the carriage. Noticed the curtains were open, though herself a little too high still, Jenny slouched down and waved to her cousin hidden in the wheeled, wooden vehicle. "Good afternoon, cousin," she said and blew a kiss. Then raced to her house to put her horse and saddle things away if only moments before her relative was to arrive for real.

Thank goodness, thought Nabby, not only on her arrival but also on seeing her cousin. It made everything seem more real to see her here. Nabby still felt as though this whole trip was somewhat unreal--she had been so looking forward to it for such a long time.
Nabby waved back at Jenny, calling, "Good afternoon to you, too!" But she wasn't certain that she had been heard, as Jenny was obviously rushing back into the house to put her things away after going horseback riding.
As she thought that she saw Jenny about to come back out of the house, she gave a small nod to the coachman who kindly took her luggage off of the coach for her. However, seeing all of this from the coach and standing in the street were two different things. There were so many people here in Boston! The familiar feeling of nervousness nearly gripped her again, but Nabby took a deep breath and thought, 'I will handle this.' After all that was one of the reasons she had wanted to come to Boston. Her shyness had become much worse since the last time she was in Boston, a couple of years ago. [/size]

Jenny could have spotted her cousin from a distance. Even though they didn't live extremely close, they did spend a lot of good times together. Smiling she rushed over to the carriage as Abigal began to exit it.
"Nabby! It is so good to see you again, especially in Boston this time," Jenny said taking her cousins hands and waiting for her to be firmly on the ground before giving her a friendly hug. She pulled back and signaled to the coach to get Nabby's things and bring them inside. "So how was your trip? Not to harsh, I would hope," Jenny inquired. Even now standing together, Jenny began to think of all the things they could do that week. One of those things was finding someone for Nabby. This girl would look grand with some handsome lad on her arm.

Nabby greeted Jenny, fondly returning her embrace. "Oh, it's so good to see you again too," she said cheerfully. She was glad to see her cousin again, but it felt a bit strange since it had been some time since they had last seen each other. Jenny looked older, of course, and Nabby had to dispell the notion that she always had, unconciously, that she would somehow catch up with her older cousin. But after a minute she had adjusted the mental image of her cousin with the real young woman standing beside her.
"The trip was alright, but you know how I dislike travelling," said Nabby. She didn't wish to sound disagreeable, but she didn't feel all that well after that carriage ride. She was sure that a headache would be coming soon, even though it wasn't here yet. "I am just very glad to be here," she added with a smile. [/blockquote]
